Junior Achievement - Finance Park	Students learned about household budgets by simulating a real life situation. Their personal profile included: income, marital status, number and age of children (if any), housing (apartment or home), insurance needs, desired savings, loans, etc. Students created a budget based on their "needs" and "wants", then visited each business location to "pay" their bills. During the budgeting process students found that they had to adjust their budgted item, such as the type of car they wanted, the amount they spent on health and auto insurance, food, clothing, entertainment, mortgage etc. The students completed a check book register, which had to balance. It was an eye opening experience for them, one they really enjoyed!

Program Requirements - Summary

Students must complete the following over 3 years in order to fulfill the requirements of the WIT Academy and receive recognition at graduation. Each Academy graduate will receive an honor cord, service pin, and certificate upon completion of all Academy requirements. 

1. Receive a grade of ‘C’ or higher in all technology courses
2. Earn a GPA of 2.0 or higher by the end of the senior year
3. Complete all semester group projects
4. Complete a job shadow
5. Complete the mentor program
6. Complete a minimum of 100 hours of internship or work experience in a job that requires technical skills
