Welcome to
Westlake Information Technology Academy
Fall 2009 enrollment, now open!
Open to all 9th and 10th graders who are interested in improving their technology skills and getting better prepared for college and a career. The Academy features small class sizes, college-prep classes, field trips, guest speakers, mentor program, job shadows and internships. Technology classes include Microsoft Office, Web Page Design, Computer Graphics, and Mass Media. All classes are taught on the WHS campus by WHS teachers.

Project presentation dates:
May 19 (seniors)
May 20 (juniors)
May 21 (sophomores).
These presentations will take place in the evening in the library for family and friends.
Students
must complete the following over 3 years in order to fulfill the
requirements of the WIT Academy and receive recognition at graduation. EachAcademy graduate will receive an honor cord, service pin, and
certificate upon completion of all Academy requirements.
- Receive a grade of ‘C’ or higher in all technology courses
- Earn a GPA of 2.0 or higher by the end of the senior year
- Complete all semester group projects
- Complete a job shadow
- Complete the mentor program
- Complete a minimum of 100 hours of internship or work experience in a job that requires technical skills
Applications for the Westlake Information Technology (WIT) Academy will be available in the counseling office starting February 28. Current freshmen and sophomores may apply. Applications are due in the counseling office by Friday, March 20, 2009 in order to be guaranteed an interview.
