Alumnae Letter
Dear Westlake High School Alumnae,
We hope this letter finds you well. Westlake High School continues to provide students with the very best in academics and we are proud to be sending our senior class to some of the best colleges and universities in the country.
As you may remember, the main purpose and mission of the Westlake High School Scholarship Foundation (WHSSF) is to provide college scholarships to deserving seniors. We are asking that you consider helping future graduating seniors from WHS with that same opportunity for college by donating to the foundation.
Founded in 1981 by a counselor at WHS, along with community leaders, this non-profit organization has helped hundreds of deserving high school students go to college. Many of these recipients have returned to our community to give back.
One of the first recipients, Mark Jessee, received a Westlake High School scholarship through the Foundation in 1985 that helped contribute toward his expenses at UCLA. He then graduated from law school and now practices law in Thousand Oaks. He has served our community in many ways through volunteer work, including serving as a mock trial coach at WHS since 1995.
Another recipient, Ganesh Shankar received a scholarship through the Foundation in 1998 that helped him attend Stanford University. He then went on to Harvard Medical School for his PhD in neurosciences and is currently working on a cure for Alzheimer's.
In June 2008, the WHSSF was able to award $45,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors. We hope you will help continue this valuable tradition. An investment today, is an investment in the future of our community. Please consider making a tax deductible donation in your name, or perhaps your company's name. What a wonderful way to honor the spirit of your high school memories by helping someone realize their dream of going to college.
By giving a minimum of $500 or more, you can name a scholarship and set the criteria for the recipient. Of course, any donation amount is appreciated! The staff, faculty, parents, and students of Westlake High School thank you for your consideration and support.
As an acknowledgement of your contribution, an announcement will be placed (with your permission) on the WHS website and in the WHS PTSA newsletter.
Sincerely,
Westlake High School Scholarship Foundation
