Science... the fun starts here
The 6th grade teaches Earth science, 7th grade life science, and 8th grade physical science. All classes are CP (college prep) designated, except our Honors Physical Science in 8th grade. There are no Honors science classes at 6th or 7th grade. The 8th grade Honors class is for students who have a high interest in science as a career and want to be advanced in science. The Honors program is taught as 9th grade Physical Science and students who maintain an “A” OR “B” will advance to Honors Chemistry in 9th grade at N.P.H.S.
Lab/Hands-On Program. All students have the opportunity to do science labs on a frequent basis. This includes our special education and ELD students. We have received grants from Amgen and other businesses to purchase equipment and fund our lab programs. Parents also can make donations at the beginning of each school year to provides funds for consumable items needed, such as food coloring, vinegar, baking soda, salt, toothpicks, marshmallows, gumdrops, push pins, pipe-cleaners.
