SEQUOIA'S GATE PROGRAM

The Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program provides funding for schools to develop unique education opportunities for students identified as gifted and talented in California public schools. Sequoia has a very active GATE Program, and the students involved take part in specialized activities.

The Johns Hopkins CTY Talent Search. CTY Talent Searches identify, assess, and recognize students with exceptional mathematical and/or verbal reasoning abilities. Participation in the CTY Talent Search comes with a wealth of benefits. The deadline to register is the end of November. Students taking the test are eligible for awards and to take courses through them. Information is on their website; Johns Hopkins University. Just an FYI 7th and 8th graders take the SAT or ACT to qualify. It is a great way to practice.
