How do I enroll my child at Lang Ranch Elementary?
First, we need to determine if you live in the Lang Ranch attendance area. You can call any school or the District Office to find out what your school of residence is or check on the District website at www.conejo.k12.ca.us.

When can I enroll my child for Fall, 2012?

Starting Monday, January 30, you may pick up a registration packet which must be returned to the school office beginning Monday, February 6. We register all grade levels on that date. To pick up a registration packet, you must bring your valid Driver’s License or ID Card AND two (2) proofs of residency (see residency requirements
below). We are also requesting that you bring your child’s proof of birth and immunization record. PACKETS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT ALL OF THE ITEMS LISTED BELOW. If you choose to register on February 6, please allow at least 30-60 minutes to complete the process. Due to space and large numbers, we
strongly suggest that you do not bring children with you. The office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

What do I need to bring to enroll my child?

1. Proof of birth: A certified/original copy of one (1) of the following:
a. birth certificate
b. baptismal record
c. passport
Hospital certificates are NOT acceptable.
For 2012-13, a child must be five years old on or before November 1, 2012, to start K
For 2013-14, a child must be five years old on or before October 1, 2013, to start K
For 2014-15, a child must be five years old on or before September 1, 2014, to start K
For 2012-2013, a child must be six years old on or before November 1, 2012, to start 1st grade

2. Proof of identity:
A valid Driver’s License or ID card

3. Proof of residency:
Two (2) DIFFERENT CURRENT utility bills (gas, water, trash or electric only)
Please contact the office for information regarding escrow papers or rental agreements.

4. Immunization requirements: (IF IMMUNIZATIONS HAVE NOT BEEN COMPLETED BY THE TIME YOU
REGISTER, YOU MUST PROVIDE AN APPOINTMENT CARD WITH THE DATE IMMUNIZATIONS WILL BE
COMPLETED.)

Polio (OPV or IPV): 4 doses. 3 doses meet requirement if at least 1 was given on or after 4th birthday for
ages 4-6 or on or after 2nd birthday for ages 7-17.

DPT/DtaP/DT/Td: 5 doses. 4 doses meet requirement if at least 1 dose given on or after 4th birthday for
ages 4-6 years. 3 doses meet requirement for ages 7-17 years if at least 1 dose was given on or after 2nd
birthday.

Measles, Mumps, Rubella: 2 doses on or after 1st birthday. The 2nd dose may be any measles-containing
vaccine.

Hepatitis B: 3 doses. 2 doses meet requirement if the doctor indicates the 2-dose formulation was used
and both doses were given at age 11-15 years. (Children who have received at least one dose of Hepatitis B
vaccine may enter kindergarten on the condition that they receive the remaining doses within appropriate
time intervals.)

Varicella: 1 dose or health care provider-documented varicella disease or immunity.
What if I live outside the Lang Ranch attendance area?

You may submit a School Choice application asking that your child be allowed to attend Lang Ranch Elementary
(only the district, and not an individual principal, has the authority to grant approval). The forms are available
at all schools, at the District Office, and on the District website (www.conejousd.org) beginning on February 1. The completed form must be turned in directly to the District Office by March 1 at 5:00 p.m. School choice is based on a lottery system. If you live outside the District, you will need to submit an Interdistrict Transfer Application to your district of residence. What if I have lost the proof of birth or immunization record?
If you cannot locate your child’s original birth certificate or a passport, contact the county where your child was
born, and they can issue you an “original copy.”

What are the classroom hours?

Kindergarten is 8:25-1:30
Grades 1-5 are 8:25-2:35

When will I know what class my child is in?

Kindergarten students will be notified on or before Wednesday, August 22, by mail (approximately one week
prior to the start of school). Class assignments for grades 1 through 5 will be posted outside by the covered
lunch tables on Tuesday, August 28, at 4:00 p.m.

When is the first day of school?
The first day of school is Wednesday, August 29.

When is new student orientation?
Monday, August 27, at 2:30 p.m. is kindergarten “Meet The Teacher Day” in the kindergarten classrooms
Monday, August 27, at 3:30 p.m. is Grades 1-5 new student orientation in the cafeteria
Monday, August 27, at 6:00 p.m. is kindergarten Back-to-School/Orientation night in the cafeteria (parents only
please)
Monday, August 27, at 7:00 p.m. all 1st grade parents are invited to an information night in the cafeteria

Does Lang Ranch offer childcare?
We have an on-site, district-run childcare facility. There will be an information sheet in your enrollment packet.
You must be enrolled at Lang Ranch to enroll in our site childcare program. We will stamp your childcare
registration form after you enroll at Lang Ranch. You must take the form to the Child Care University Center,
2801 Atlas Avenue, Thousand Oaks. Registration will not occur at Lang Ranch Elementary. Childcare will be
first-come, first-served for new applicants. It will NOT be based upon a lottery. This change was made effective January 25, 2012. For further information, please call the District childcare personnel at 492-3567.

information.
