Reading Counts is a reading motivation and management program that helps encourage and monitor independent reading. It helps match students with texts on their reading level. The library currently has approximately 6000 books that have quizzes to match the books. These books are marked as Reading Counts books with colored dots on the spines. After reading a book, students are able to take a quiz to check their comprehension skills. The quizzes are available to take on computers in the classrooms.
Enter your reading level in the “Book Level” fields, or Lexile number. You may want to use a range of levels to get titles near your reading level – like 5.0 to 6.0. Then put something in the “Subject” field that you are interested in. Click “Get Books” and see how many you get. If any of the titles look good to you, click on the title to read more about the book.
You can save the titles you are interested in to your “Printer List” by clicking on the check box next to the author’s name and then clicking “Add Selected Books” under the “My Printer List” heading on the side. Do several searches and add as many books to your printer list as you like. When you are done, Click on “Print List” to send your selected titles to your printer.
