Counselor's Corner
Mrs. Lundberg
September 2006

Welcome !!!

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Genevieve Lundberg. I am delighted to be the elementary school counselor at your  child's school.  This is the seventh year of the counseling program.

I hope that you and your family had a restful and fun summer. I am looking forward to another successful school year.

The Elementary Counseling Program

The goals of the Elementary Counseling Program are to teach students essential life skills such as friendship, cooperation, effective decision-making, conflict resolution, study skills, and respect for others through individual and group counseling, as well as classroom presentations.

In addition, the counselors strive to work collaboratively with parents by providing parent education and consultation.  This year we will be presenting the parenting series titled, "Discipline With Love & Logic."

Each month, I will distribute a monthly newsletter with helpful parenting topics that address a variety of parenting issues in today's society.  You can also look at the counseling link on your school's website.

Parent Information Nights

Do you fight with your children to do their chores or homework?  Is it a struggle to get your child to school on time?  Are you frustrated with seemingly ineffective parenting strategies?  Are you exhausted at the end of the day?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, the Conejo Valley Elementary Counselors have the solution for you!

The Conejo Valley Elementary Counselors are excited to present a parenting series this year called, "Discipline With Love and Logic" by Jim Fay and Foster Cline.  "Discipline With Love and Logic" is based on love, which allows children to grow through their mistakes, and logic, which allows them to live with the consequences of their choices.  The series will consist of two presentations teaching invaluable strategies and tools to help parents establish healthy control without resorting to anger, threats, nagging, or exhausting power struggles.  The parenting series will be presented at the District Office, 1400 E. Janss Rd., Thousand Oaks. Plan ahead and mark the following dates on your calendar!

October 11 - District Office - 7:00p.m.

November 15 - District Office - 7:00p.m.
